The twelfth meeting of the States parties to the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families (ICRMW) was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Within the framework of the session, a secret vote was held to elect 7 members of the Committee on Migrant Workers (CMW) for 2026-2029, to replace those whose terms of office expire on 31 December 2025.
Among candidates from a number of countries, the candidate of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Azad TAGHI ZADA, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of the National Observatory on Labour Market and Social Protection Affairs under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, obtained the highest result, securing 55 out of 57 votes.
Thus, he has been re‑elected as a member of the UN Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families for the term of 2026-2029.
The Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families (CMW) is the body of 14 independent experts that monitors implementation of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families by its State parties.
