An event was held at the DOST Agency as part of Human Rights Month, organized by the National Observatory for Labour Market and Social Protection Affairs under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population. The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, the Ombudsman’s Office, and members of the Board of the National Observatory.
The event highlighted that ensuring human rights is a key priority of state policy in Azerbaijan. Discussions focused on the national system of labour, employment, and social protection rights, emphasizing ongoing improvements to legislation based on progressive approaches. In recent years, significant steps have been taken to strengthen social protection, increase support for vulnerable groups, and enact new legislative measures as part of broader social reforms.
The event also featured a training session on "International Human Rights," where participants were introduced to the concept and essence of human rights, their place in international law, and the historical evolution of human rights frameworks. Topics covered included the classification of rights, the catalogue of human rights and freedoms, and key international documents defining these rights.
The meeting also touched upon the reforms and efforts made in Azerbaijan to enhance human rights, particularly in the areas of labour and social protection.
