A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Observatory on Labour Market and Social Protection Affairs, under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, and Azerbaijan University, marking a significant step in enhancing cooperation in the areas of labour, employment, and social protection. The agreement was signed by Elnur Safarli, Chairman of the Board of the National Observatory, and Saadat Aliyeva, Rector of Azerbaijan University, who holds a PhD in Philology.
During the signing ceremony, Safarli highlighted the National Observatory’s role as the National Social Observation Centre, focusing on labour and employment trends as well as social protection. He emphasized that the Observatory has been successfully cooperating with higher education institutions and research centres to enhance its institutional capacity. As part of this partnership, the employment outcomes of university graduates will be analysed, and students and graduates will actively participate in internship programs.
Rector Aliyeva pointed out that addressing the challenges of the modern business world and enhancing personnel training are key priorities for boosting the university's competitiveness. She also mentioned ongoing efforts to transform the university into a research-driven institution and strengthen its ties with industry. Aliyeva expressed confidence that the MoU would be mutually beneficial for both parties.
The MoU outlines various areas of collaboration, including joint research, scientific conferences, and the analysis of AU graduates' adaptation to the labour market. It also aims to forecast the demand for emerging professions, skills, and competencies, in line with the evolving needs of the labour market.
