A delegation led by Elnur Safarli, Chairman of the Board of the National Observatory on Labour Market and Social Protection Affairs, under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan, is currently visiting the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
A meeting was held at Nakhchivan State University, attended by the leadership of both the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of Nakhchivan and the University.
Safarli highlighted the Observatory’s ongoing collaboration with higher education institutions and research centres, emphasising efforts to enhance institutional capabilities. He noted that, through this partnership, the employment outcomes of university graduates are being studied, and students and graduates are engaged in practical internship programs.
Elbrus Isayev, the Rector of Nakhchivan State University, provided information about the university's initiatives to transform into an innovative research centre.
The meeting also addressed key labour market issues in Nakhchivan, the development of social protection policies, and the expansion of the university-industry cooperation.
Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of Nakhchivan, Acting Minister Farid Baghirzada, provided a comprehensive overview of the region’s labour market, ongoing reforms in employment, workforce development prospects, and social protection measures.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Safarli and Isayev signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation between the National Observatory and Nakhchivan State University.
The document includes cooperation in areas such as forecasting the demand for emerging professions and specialities, identifying necessary skills and competencies, conducting joint research, and organising scientific and practical conferences, symposiums, and other events, all while taking into account the quantitative and qualitative parameters of the labour market and analysing the adaptation status of Nakhchivan State University graduates to it.
